A. JOB SUMMARY The Accounting Manager is responsible for daily cash flow, bank reconciliation, general ledger, financial reporting, journal entries, assist in budget planning and projects/reports as required by the supervisors, directors, and third parties. Supervises Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing Specialist.
B. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List essential duties first; include footnotes if appropriate) 1. Directs activities of subordinate staff engaged in preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts, cash management and accounts payable processing. Ensures accuracy and completeness of all accounting as well as adherence to established University HealthCare Alliance policies / procedures, government regulations and GAAP. (1,2,3,4) 2. Develops and monitors short- and long-term goals and objectives for area of responsibility in concert with area-wide objectives and initiatives. Develops plans to accomplish agreed upon goals and objectives, secures approval of, and supports a department budget which provides for successful attainment of goals and objectives. (1,3) 3. Develops, recommends and oversees implementation and administration of policies / procedures for areas of responsibility. Reviews staff and management recommendations regarding changes. Participates in developing and implementing inter-department and inter-entity policies and procedures as required to ensure successful operations are maintained. (1,3,4) 4. Interviews, hires, trains, assigns work to, evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, disciplines and discharges subordinate personnel. Works to identify employee relations matters within scope of responsibility and seeks guidance from Controller or Human Resources in resolving complex and / or sensitive problems. (1,2,3,4) 5. Prepares and / or directs preparation of financial statements, tax documents and supporting schedules, journal entries and financial analyses to reflect the financial status of entity(s). Verifies completed reconciliations of all income statement and balance sheet accounts and monitors / reports financial trends and variances. Directs preparation of annual budgets, business analyses and specialized reporting / analyses to meet organizational objectives. (1,2,3,4) 6. Acts as a liaison between accounting / finance area and other departments, physicians, vendors, auditors and corporate staff in resolving complex or technical issues, providing or obtaining financial and operational information, making presentations and coordinating accounting related activities. (1,3) 7. Attends meetings, providing input into organizational policies and procedures, especially as they relate to accounting / finance practices. Represents entity(s) in regional and / or corporate meetings and trainings related to accounting practices. (1,3) 8. Performs other duties as assigned, participates in organization projects as assigned absence of guidelines or technical assistance from superiors.
