Job Duties and Responsibilities Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Provide technical support for all network equipment, network software, and network processes prioritized by internal SLA's and guidelines.
Support all circuits, interfaces, and cabling infrastructures required to provide enterprise wide connectivity (both intra and inter).
Plan and support all upgrades to network hardware and software to provide the maximum uptime / minimal interruption to the network or end users.
Provide recommendations and plans proactively in support of security bulletins, known vulnerabilities, end of life / end of support notices, and predictive failure metrics.
Produces, updates, and maintains documentation in a secure fashion to facilitate knowledge transfer.
Work at all layers of the OSI model, from receiving and rack-mounting network hardware to analyzing packet captures to assist with application level network flow issues.
Practice continuous learning via self-study and classroom education to stay current in network technologies, security threats and best practices, and overall job related knowledge.
Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned in support of the agency and / or end users. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced to expert level knowledge of the widely used protocols, routing protocols, and complex LAN/MAN/WAN designs and implementations.
Advanced to expert level knowledge of edge security components; SEIM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, proxies, etc.
Advanced to expert level knowledge of current Cisco iOS features, commands, and best practices.
Working to advanced level knowledge of current Cisco switch and router hardware and design best practices.
Expert level knowledge of packet captures, interpretation, and network flow analysis in a problem solving mode.
Advanced to expert level knowledge of wireless (802.11X, cellular) standards, design, network flow, administration, and support.
Advanced level knowledge of security authentication technologies and Cisco network infrastructure management / administration systems.
Working knowledge of multi-factor security systems and endpoint hardening (including MDM)
Working to advanced level knowledge of client and server operating systems (i.e. Windows, Linux) to include, at a minimum, network stack and interface configuration options.
Skilled in effective verbal and written communication in English with stakeholders, team, and end users in both technical and non-technical environments.
Ability to maintain a detail oriented demeanor.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with team members, end users, and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Requirements: Note: Applicants must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered minimally experience in for the job. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a network administrator role supporting multiple sites and / or more than 3,000 users; and Experience with working with a team of people handling the administration of large geographic networks Desirable Qualifications Cisco CCIE certification preferred or multiple Cisco certifications with a level of experience and job duties commensurate to a CCIE certification; and Firewall advanced certification or a level of experience and job duties commensurate to an advanced certification; and Cisco wireless advanced certification or a level of experience and job duties commensurate to an advanced certification; and Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems released during the last 10 years; and Experience supporting a large user base performing critical life safety functions or missions; and Knowledge of military or para-military rank structure and chain of command; and A verifiable track record of high productivity and ability to overcome obstacles in a detail oriented manner.
